On Track - Friday 4/24

As the Talladega Superspeedway celebrates their 40th anniversary, a lot has already been going on at the track by even just Friday afternoon.

Friday morning, Tony Stewart announced details on this year's Prelude to a Dream at his Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The 5th Annual Prelude to a Dream will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd with Pay-Per-View proceeds going towards 4 military-themed charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront and Fisher House. The all-star dirt Late Model race will be Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer and more.

If you've never been to one and would like to attend, I say get your tickets now! This event has sold out every year. Even in this current economic climate, I have to think it will do so again this year.

Friday morning, Richard Petty announced the Daytona International Speedway will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his 200th win over this year's 4th of July race weekend @ Daytona. He captured his 200th win @ Daytona on July 4, 1984. President Ronald Reagan was in attendance. Interesting enough it was the first time a sitting President attended a NASCAR race and the final time Petty won a NASCAR race. Petty will also drive the pace car.
