On Track - Saturday 5/23

Dodging rain drops @ Lowe's. Plus there's a chance of rain and thunderstorms on Sunday for the Coca-Cola 600.

NSCS First practice on Saturday:

Denny Hamlin posted the fastest speed with Greg Biffle, Casey Mears, Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers in the top 5. Jamie McMurray and Reed Sorenson made contact. Sorenson hit the wall. McMurray had some damage to the right side of the car.

Rain washed out Happy Hour practice after 8 minutes of practice time. Jimmie Johnson was fastest followed by Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Brian Vickers. Kasey Kahne, Michael Waltrip, Tony Raines and Max Papis didn't make it out on the track. The practice session wasn't without incident. Robby Gordon slid up the track and hit the wall. He did some damage to the right side.

NNS Qualifying:

Carl Edwards won the pole for the Nationwide Series Carquest Auto Parts 300. It's his 4th pole of the year. Kyle Busch qualified second, but will have to start in the back due to an engine change the team made on Thursday). Greg Biffle qualified 3rd followed by David Ragan, Brian Vickers, Michael McDowell, David Gilliland, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton and Mike Bliss - starting in the top 10. Other notables: Joey Logano will start 12th. Dale Jr - 13th. Scott Speed -14th. Brad Keselowski will start 40th and beside his brother Brian.

Burney Lamar took a spin during qualifying and hit the wall. He'll go to a back-up and start 41st.
